It’s almost a usual practice nowadays that a promising film must go head-to-head with a tie-in game. The games boost the notability of the films, while the films, to a large extend, determine how prevailing the games could be. The games, regardless of what genre they fall into, are always deliberately designed to accommodate the film fans for their ever-existing aspiration to relive of the films. I guess that’s what tie-in games are for-granting everyone a chance to be a part of a film that they may never join in their real life. Last but not least, just keep in mind that, no matter watching a film or playing a game, the ultimate goal is-to have fun!
Despicable Me: Minion Rush
Compared with Despicable Me, the film Despicable Me 2 does not feature a very engrossing storyline. But Gru’s minions do play a much more important role, boosting the amusement of the film as a whole. Its tie-in game Despicable Me: Minion Rush casts you as one of the minions to embark on a danger-packed endless run to reap the reward of the Minion of the Year. The game displays a series of scenes from the film, easily arousing the sympathy of its fans.

Fast and Furious 6: The Game
Seriously, you cannot really expect too much of an absorbing plotline from any of the Fast and Furious series. So is the case with Fast and Furious 6. But its magnificent visuals and adrenalin-pumping car races are still full of charms that fans cannot help lapping it up. The official game is made by world-renowned social game developer Kabam. And it turned out to be a CSR Racing-like game that includes elements like car collecting, car customizing, immersive linear acceleration and breathtaking curve drift. Racing game, when coming to iOS, are usually easy to control, but Fast and Furious 6: The Game is designed very challenging to master. Control skills are as important as fast response. If you are confident with your delicate controls, you’ve got to test it out in the game.

Iron Man 3-The Official Game
The most practical guess before the game was released was that it could be an action-packed fighter. No one ever expected Iron Man 3-The Official Game would turn out to be an endless runner, or to be exact, endless flier. Anyway, it’s understandable, as endless runners are all the rage these days. The visuals are gorgeous, the power-ups are amazing, and the fighting actions are breathtaking. You really cannot expect more, except the common concern if Gameloft could ever bring down its IAP.

Epic
Three months ago, Gameloft teased us on Toucharcade forum that something “Epic” is coming, making every Gameloft fan guess what genre the new game would fall into. As it was bonded with the 3D animated film of the same name, someone said it might be an action RPG or something alike. But later it came as a colorful online kingdom building strategy game that made most players drop their jaws to the ground. Anyway, aside from the awesome graphics that Gameloft is handy at rendering and the unexpected concept it delivers, the game is nothing but an ordinary strategy game rather than an outstanding movie tie-in.

After Earth
Starred by Will Smith and his son, the film After Earth is set in a futuristic world, where Earth has long been abandoned as human’s residing planet and a pair of father and son takes on the mission to explore the “after” Earth. The tie-in game is an action-packed endless runner, following the exact plot and setting of the movie. You run, jump and dodge obstacle like what you do in any other runner. But in the game, you also have to confront and defeat an array of vicious creatures in epic battles, freefall, zipline and more!

CSI: Miami Heat Wave
CSI: Miami Heat Wave had a Facebook version previously and won wide acclaim. That’s why Ubisoft ported it to mobile devices. The game is loosely based on the hot American TV series CSI: Miami, delivering a fun experience playing as one member of the Miami CSI group to collect evidence, unveil the hidden truth and identify the murders.

Man of Steel
This era has witnessed too many superheroes coming to comic books, movies, video games, etc. Superman, as one of earliest entries, has to do something really special to stand out from the vast ocean of superheroes. Film Man of Steel came with this aim but wrapped up as another old-fashioned superman entry. The love affair and fighting actions were impressive though. The iOS game of the same name mainly focuses on the fighting part, presenting a decent fighter with shocking enough visuals yet innovative gameplay.

Monster University
Hilarious, touching, inspiring, those are among the impressions I can come up with regarding the 3D computer-animated comic film Monster University. It is the fourteenth film produced by Pixar and a prequel to 2001′s Monsters, Inc. The mobile game of the same name is produced by Disney and displayed as a stage-based runner. Like most of Disney’s installments, the game is specially designed for kids and can be walked through in a few hours. The gameplay is ok though, the depth is yet to be deepen.

Pacific Rim
Pacific Rim is an action-packed fighter released at the premiere of the movie of the same name. It lets you pilot your mega robot Jaegers to fight off the monstrous Kaiju that comes up from the sea. The film is really a feast of eyes and ears, packed with shocking grand scenes and thrilling music. But the game is no more than another cliche fighter which constant grabs for IAP, even though it’s only approachable with $4.99 in the App Store.
