Whenever we talk about first-person shooters on touch-screen devices, controls are always the top concerns. Well, it is totally understandable. FPS, as one of the earliest genre of gaming, has witnessed the emerge of multiple new platforms, iOS and Android included. But unfortunately the touch-screen platforms do not seem to be born for such games that have strict requirements on precise controls.
The following games we will mention have been proven exceptionally great on the iOS platform, though not as great as their counterparts on PC or consoles. If you haven’t played any of them, maybe it’s time to pick up one or two.
Call of Duty®: Strike Team
The quiet launch of Call of Duty: Stike Team back in early September made a huge splash on the vast ocean of iOS gaming. It was a delightful surprise for us editors, as well as the vast iOS gamers, especially those who have a special liking for Activision‘s first-person shooters. Though the game has its own flaws on the touch-screen platforms, it still is an excellent FPS that is rare to be seen in recent memory.

Dead Trigger 2
Well, I have to say Dead Trigger 2 was somewhat behind the schedule. But the wait has been proved to be worthy. Compared with its predecessor Dead Trigger, the new title brought to life new villains, new locations, static weapons, improved graphics, realistic water reflection, advanced ragdoll physics, and so much more. Everything adds up to the game’s playability as a whole.

Bounty Hunter: Black Dawn
Bounty Hunter: Black Dawn is an updated version of Freyr’s Star Warfare: Black Dawn, which was originally released in 2012 and afterwards pulled from the App Store for some amendments. It is fair to say this game is another Borderlands or Diablo(PC/Console) that has the skin of FPS and lives on the iOS platform. And we highly recommend you give this game a try.

World War Z
Film tie-in games have one natural advantage, that is, anyone who happens to love the films has a great chance to access to the official games as well. That’s why there are like a thousand film tie-games on the App Store. World War Z is one of those games that sticks out for its amazing cinematic visuals, unique mix of RPG and FPS and some other great features. Overall, this is a game you will immerse in the moment you put hands on and will have a hard time putting down.

Zombie is a theme that has been overused by a whole lot of game developers. So it’s nothing surprising to see Dead Effect, an otherwise fun first-person shooter with decent challenges and some great replayability, but nothing fresh. If you’re a fan of violent, bloody, horror themed games, this one should take one slot on your gaming shelves.

Neon Shadow is a retro-style FPS, plain and simple, yet with plenty of elements that you’ve been familiar with for maybe decades. You’ll be in shoes of a commander who needs to regain control of a remote space station, as you battle the rogue AI that has taken it over. OK, never mind the cliche plot , as it’s time to dive right into the action to relive the childhood shooting fun.
