Deus Ex: The Fall Review

It’s an exciting time in iOS gaming. The hardware is powerful enough to run some truly impressive games and the App Store’s sales are strong enough that big-name studios are taking notice. Companies like EA, Sega, and Square Enix have been pumping stuff onto the App Store for years, but it’s been more recently that we’re seeing triple-A titles hit the platform. Last month saw an awesome port of XCOM and this week we got an original triple-A title from Square Enix, Deus Ex: The Fall. Read More…

How to Create Your Own Canadian Apple ID from your iOS Device

Those of you who follow the mobile gaming scene closely are probably well aware that many games get soft-launched in certain countries’ app stores before they are released worldwide. Developers do this so that they can make the final tweaks needed to make sure their multiplayer servers can handle the load, their monetization system is fair, and their gameplay is balanced.

There are countries that get soft launches much more frequently than others. Those lucky gamers with Canadian or New Zealand App Store accounts often get new games weeks before the rest of us do. Only luck’s got nothing to do with it. Creating your own foreign App Store account is pretty easy. Here at AppsGoer, we’ve made several public IDs you can use to log in to the Canadian App Store and snag some soft-launched games. We’re happy to keep providing that service, but the problem with the public IDs is that anybody can try to reset their password and lock out the account for everyone else. If you’d like the convenience and stability of using your own personal Candian Apple ID, I’m going to walk you through a process that you can do using only an iOS device. Read More…

Zombie Killer Squad Review - Run and Gun

Zombie Killer Squad is a hybrid of endless running and zombie shooting. By that description alone (and its super generic name), you might expect it to be a completely clichéd experience. The thing is, the game hit just yesterday and already it has skyrocketed to the #2 position on the Top Charts for free apps. There must be something more to it, right? As it turns out, the game was created in part by two major gaming YouTubers, Seananners and Syndicate. That gives Zombie Killer Squad a huge audience to market to and a fanbase that’s eager to support it. Read More…

EA Launches Battlefield 4 Tablet Commander for iOS

With the iOS release of Battlefield 4 Tablet Commander, those of you who have both an iPad and any version of Battlefield 4 will have full access to commanding your teammates in Commander Mode, even when you’re on the go (that’s right — it’ll work smoothly even over your cellular network). DICE claims the app will be ready for Android tablets before the end of the month.

Working hand-in-hand with the Battlelog app, players will be able to select a server for any version of Battlefield 4 they own, hop in, and aid a squad of soldiers with war supplies and voice communication. The app features the full Commander experience with intuitive drag-and-drop controls optimized for the touchscreen interface. Read More…

Boom Beach - Supercell Demonstrates the Proper Way to Clone Clash of Clans

So here’s a story that’s kind of weird: Supercell (the developer behind two monumentally successful apps, Hay Day and Clash of Clans) has joined the scores of developers that have cloned Clash of Clans. Supercell’s third game, Boom Beach, is a military game set in an uncharted archipelago… and it draws major inspiration from Clash of Clans. Despite Supercell’s short gameography, there’s precedent for the development team cloning its own successes — Clash of Clans itself is heavily informed by Digital Chocolate’s Galaxy Life. Digital Chocolate, by the way, happens to be the company that a majority of SuperCell’s founders came from. This story has a happy ending though — Boom Beach is both fun and different enough to stand on its own.

Spacetime Studios Launches Battle Command for iOS and Android

It features over 20 units ranging from ground troops to vehicles to aircraft. You’ll have a bunch of defensive options too, including turrets, mortars, and missiles.
