Gameloft and Fox Digital Entertainment jointly announced yesterday their exclusive partnership in bringing a mobile game, Epic, based on the 2013 3D animated fantasy adventure film “Epic”. This marks the two parties’ second partnership, which comes about one year after they joined hands to present on mobile platforms Ice Age Village, a city builder inspired by Blue Sky Studios’ Ice Age: Continental Drift. More than 50 million times’ downloads testify to their success and that is probably what fuels their cooperation this time.
Epic, the 3D animated film slated to hit the big screen on May 24, 2013, takes audiences on an amazing journey through a mysterious world featuring extraordinary creatures and spectacular environments. Meanwhile, fierce battles between the good and the evil, Jinn and Boggans, also lend a gripping charm to this audiovisual stunner.
“The game will be a noteworthy compliment to the upcoming film. Fans will be able to engage with the characters and world of Epic in an adventure game for phones and tablets”, Rick Phillips, SVP of Mobile for Fox Digital Entertainment said.
No official announcement has been made about the game’s details yet, but seen from the trailer actions will surely take a good part of the game and it also seems to contain some mechanics of city building. The name itself can inspire lots of imagination and the prior successful cooperation of Gameloft, Fox Digital Entertainment and Blue Sky Studios may give players quite a high expectation. Hopefully, Epic turns out to be epic and makes its name rightful!
Official release date has not been narrowed down neither, but good news is it will surely grace both iOS and Android platform alike sometime this month.
